Traumawise Counselling and Psychotherapy specialises in helping people who continue to experience anxiety related symptoms after a life threatening event or events. Traumas, PTSD, phobias, fears and unresolved grief can be treated with excellent results.
Research continues into utilising EMDR for pain relief and tinnitus, and I have seen some encouraging results. General counselling is also available.
EMDR Therapy
Utilising a rapid trauma processing therapy known as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), I can help you to change how you feel both emotionally and physically when remembering disturbing memories.
EMDR has been proven effective for various issues, including: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety and panic attacks, Depression, Phobias, Grief and loss, and Childhood trauma.
Therapeutic Approaches
In my therapeutic practice I use multiple methods, often in combination, as is appropriate to suit the needs of the individual's situation. I have a preference for EMDR due to its efficiency and prompt outcomes, especially with trauma related issues.
My training includes Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, DBT, CBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, TFT, Brain Based Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, EST, Psychoanalytic Approaches, ACT, and Mediation.
Mindfulness
I encourage all my clients to engage in some form of Mindfulness practice. It can profoundly change how we think, feel, and live. Mindfulness enhances everyday awareness, helping us break free from repetitive patterns that often lead to emotional distress.
Utilizing Mindfulness can be particularly helpful in changing patterns in substance abuse, coping with cravings and impulses, becoming more mind and body aware during trauma therapy, reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus and concentration, and enhancing emotional regulation.
